Abstract (Document Summary)

Albemarle County Commonwealth's Attorney James Camblos III told Culpeper County Circuit Judge John R. Cullen in a letter dated Wednesday that he should step down after remembering that he once defended a convicted rapist who is now a suspect in the case.

Camblos knew about [Kenneth Tinsley] throughout his investigation. But in an interview Tuesday, Camblos said he had forgotten he once represented Tinsley during an appeal of Tinsley's rape conviction.

Camblos added that, despite the DNA tests linking Tinsley to the crime scene, Washington remains a suspect in the case.
