Maguire was raised in Newport News and her recital will benefit the restoration of the organ at Historic St. Luke's Church in Smithfield. Maguire's recital of various works will be similar to her 1997 recording. Staff photos (b&w) by JOE FUDGE Linda Maguire's recital will help restore this 1630 English chamber organ to playable condition at Historic St. Luke's Church in Smithfield. Maguire's lustrous mezzo-soprano sound, which critics have called "alluring" and "sensuous," has been heard at the Houston Grand Opera and Boston Lyric Opera. In the fall, she appeared opposite Frederika von Stade in Mozart's "La Clemenza di Tito" at Dallas Opera.
