Abstract (Document Summary)

Rumors have been flying for some time that WTVZ-TV, Channel 33, is planning to launch a news operation. The Fox affiliate may be close to a decision.

If WTVZ gets into the news business, it will probably be a half- hour program airing at 10 p.m. weekdays, says [Shelley Stiles]. That's what Fox stations in other markets have done.

* WTVZ also is making the most of having taken away NFL coverage from CBS. The next ratings for this market won't be tallied until November, but the station is running lots of promotions to keep football watchers happy.
