Davis leads Vermont GOP sweep of all statewide offices

Republican Deane C. Davis was elected Governor of Vermont by more than 20,000 votes over Democratic Lt. Gov. John J. Daley, Mr. Davis received 57 percent of the vote. He and former Vice-President Richard M. Nixon led the GOP to a clean sweep in the election as Vermont recaptured its status as the most Republican of all states.
