[Roger Clemens] shut out the Blue Jays until the eighth inning, and with five-out help from Mariano Rivera beat the Blue Jays 4-3 before 29,235 at SkyDome.

Clemens took a five-hit shutout into the eighth, when he walked Jose Cruz Jr. and allowed a two-run homer to Alex Gonzalez. Rivera allowed a run in the ninth, but got through the final 1 2/3 innings for his 44th save, the 11th in which he has pitched more than one inning.

Clemens is 3-0 against the Blue Jays, for whom he won two Cy Youngs, and broke a tie with Jack Chesbro and Whitey Ford, who each won 14 in a row for the Yankees.
