* There was lots of weird stuff going on with zones and matchups and presses and fastbreaks and ball-deflating halfcourts, but UConn won with defense. The Huskies had six blocks, five steals and generated 13 turnovers. Seton Hall shot 27.8 percent in the second half. Game over.

* Maybe the coach deserves the game ball. He had to sweat a little and adjust a lot to win his 287th game at UConn and move into first place on the school's victory list. Jim Calhoun has risen to 287-118 in 13 years at UConn. The great Hugh Greer was 286-112 in 17 seasons. There was a cake in the coaches' office to celebrate.
