The Dickies started playing punk rock music so long ago, most of the large young '90s punk audience never heard of them.

So the bulk of those showing up for a Dickies show at the Webster Theatre in Hartford on Saturday were the faithful old-time punks, with vintage leather jackets, buttons that could be artifacts at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and bald spots where Mohawks once thrived.

He was just kidding. And if there's one thing the Dickies know about, it's kidding. Almost alone among the punk bands that rose from Los Angeles, the Dickies had a huge sense of humor and have kept it.
