A SALUTE TO THE CARTER FAMILY
[STATEWIDE Edition]

Abstract (Document Summary)
The premiere of "Z Channel" alternates tonight with one movie the fledging network championed, resulting in an Oscar nomination for James Woods, in "Salvador" (IFC, 11 and 3 p.m.). This weekend, they'll show two other Z Channel favorites -- the full, four-hour version of "Heaven's Gate" and "Bad Timing: A Sensual Obsession." The comic ability of Shannon Elizabeth of "American Pie" fame, currently hidden in the dull sitcom "Cuts" (UPN, 8:30 p.m.), attains full bloom in "Confessions of an American Bride" (Lifetime, 9 p.m.), a better than usual made-for-TV romance. Not only does she narrate the comedy of pre-marriage errors, she steps out of the film in a kind of stand-up routine. Eddie McClintock of the 2003 NBC sitcom "A.U.S.A." and Geoff Stults of "7th Heaven" (The WB, 8 p.m.) also star in the film, which is helped by not being completely predictable. Will Ferrell and Robert Plant meet David Letterman. Brad Garrett and Moby join Jay Leno. Claire Danes, Carson Kressley and Mavis Staples are on a Conan O'Brien rerun from October. Jimmy Kimmel leers at Pamela Anderson. Mark Harmon and the RZA are on Craig Ferguson. Mila Kunis, D.L. Hughley and Erasure visit Carson Daly. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
