Abstract (Document Summary)
Toronto sent David Segui and cash to Texas, which then dealt Lee Stevens to the Expos. To complete the deal, Montreal sent Brad Fullmer to the Blue Jays. Segui, who was re-signed to a one-year deal this off-season by the Blue Jays, hit a combined .298 for Seattle and Toronto last season with 14 homers and 52 RBI. With Carlos Delgado at first base, Segui would have been Toronto's DH. * Blue Jays: Righthander Joey Hamilton threw 45 pitches in a two- inning simulated game at the Blue Jays' minor league complex. "He struggled a bit with his mechanics in the first inning but in the second inning he got better," [Jim] Fregosi said. Hamilton had shoulder surgery last September. . . . Shortstop Alex Gonzalez did not play in the 6-2 victory over the Rangers because of flu. Gonzalez had missed the previous six games with a strained muscle. . . . Outfielder Shannon Stewart was also scratched because of a sore heel. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner. Further reproduction or distribution is prohibited without permission.
