THE HISTORY OF THE HARTFORD POLICE 135 YEARS OF SERVICE RECORDED IN COMMEMORATIVE ALBUM
[7 HARTFORD NORTH FINAL Edition]
Hartford Courant
-
Hartford, Conn.
Abstract (Document Summary)
These and other facts from the Hartford Police Department's 135- year history have been compiled into a historic commemorative album thanks to the voluntary efforts of several retired and current officers. Hartford Capt. Louis Wolf began the project about a year ago, seeking old snapshots, memorabilia and historical documents from former and present officers. Wolf was able to gather dozens of photos and other material for the album and began taking orders for the book. Because of personnel changes, he was unable to complete the work. That's when Lt. Ronald Parkyn -- a self-described history buff and amateur photographer -- stepped in, persuading others to help him out and finish the album. It was printed by Taylor Publishing Co. in Texas, and the black-and-gold bound book began arriving in officers' mail this week. At a price of $52 an album, police sold 391 books in its one printing. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner. Further reproduction or distribution is prohibited without permission.
