Last week, a bill overwhelmingly passed the Mississippi House to create a nine-member task force to come up with a plan to reverse a century of poverty, poor education and population loss in the region. "Why hasn't there been a Deltawide effort to make Deltawide improvement?" Mayo said the task force will solicit public comment and charge state departments with making measurable improvements on five-, 10-, 15- and 20-year time lines.
