The school's ecumenical approach is evident in the lineup for the first day of the school's Folk and Roots Festival in Welles Park this weekend. Among the performers on Saturday are the Super Rail Band of Bamako from Mali, Dominican Republic-by-way-of-New York City son ensemble Coco Merenson and headliner Femi Kuti, the son of the late Nigerian legend Fela Kuti. The music continues on Sunday with hillbilly swing singer Jo Miller, Texas country-folk legends the Flatlanders and songwriter Michelle Shocked.
