There were few shakeups in the top spots on this week's pop charts, with the L.A. group Los Lobos holding on to No. 1 on the singles' list with "La Bamba" and Whitney Houston notching her 11th week as champ with her "Whitney" album.
But this week's chart leaders are notable, because they will be the last ones to be in the limelight before the inevitable ascension of Michael Jackson and his just-released "Bad" LP.
Jackson already has taken over on the adult contemporary list, where the first "Bad" single, "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," is in its second week at No. 1. This week, "I Just Can't Stop" moved into contention for two more titles by jumping from No. 6 to No. 2 on the pop list and from No. 4 to No. 2 on the black chart.
