Abstract (Document Summary)

There's just no stopping the Starship, whose "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" this week steamrolled past Club Nouveau's "Lean on Me" to take over as the No. 1 song in America.

That continues the incredible '80s success of the San Francisco-based band, which never got higher than No. 3 in its previous incarnations as Jefferson Airplane (in the '60s) and Jefferson Starship (in the '70s). But as the Starship, Grace Slick & Co. finally got a chart-topping in late '85 with "We Built This City." A few months later, they scored again with "Sara."
