Abstract (Document Summary)

The Starship keeps sailing along with "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," which this week held on for a second week as the most popular song in America and also added another honor--No. 1 on the adult contemporary list.

That song is the Aretha Franklin-George Michael duet, "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)," which made a strong move from last week's No. 6 ranking. (It's also No. 3 on the adult contemporary list, and a fast-rising No. 7 on the black charts.) It's doing even better in Australia, where it held on to its No. 1 title this week despite a strong challenge from Paul Lekakis' "Boom Boom" (a song that is doing extremely well in Chicago but is only No. 46 nationally).
