Abstract (Document Summary)

But the two songs that really made gains this week were Miami Sound Machine's lovely ballad "Words Get in the Way," which zipped from No. 13 to No. 8, and Run-D.M.C.'s inspired remake of "Walk This Way," which jumped from No. 15 to No. 10. That means that Run-D.M.C. has now equaled the previous chart peak of "Walk This Way," which was a No. 10 hit for the hard-rock group Aerosmith in 1977, and appears likely to do even better next week.

Here are predictions for next week's singles' chart (last week, this column correctly forecast three of the Top 5 songs): 1. "Take My Breath Away," 2. "Venus," 3. "Dancing on the Ceiling," 4. "Friends and Lovers," 5. "Stuck With You," 6. "Words Get in the Way," 7. "Higher Love," 8. "Walk This Way," 9. "Baby Love," 10. "Sweet Freedom."
