Abstract (Document Summary)

Movie soundtracks have been very, very good for Madonna, who this week scores her second No. 1 with a single that is featured in a film.

Madonna's new No. 1 is, of course, "Live to Tell" (from husband Sean Penn's new movie, "At Close Range"), which becomes just the second single in the last year to move up to No. 1 after spending two weeks in the runner-up spot. (The last one to do it was Phil Collins' "Sussudio," in July.)

During those two weeks, "Live to Tell" was a very distant challenger to Whitney Houston's "Greatest Love of All," and it looked like Madonna would get lost in the shuffle due to the rapid rise of "On My Own" by Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald.
