Abstract (Document Summary)

It was a tough fight, but Peter Cetera's "Glory of Love" was just able to hold on to its status as the most popular song in America, edging out this week's No. 2 entry, Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach."

This week, three of the Top 10 songs are being featured in films ("Glory of Love" is the theme from "The Karate Kid Part II"), and the No. 1 album is a movie soundtrack. That LP, of course, is "Top Gun," which has produced two of the songs in the current Top 20: Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" (No. 7) and Berlin's fast-rising "Take My Breath Away" (No. 18).
