This seemed to come as a genuine surprise to him, as if what his team had done the night before to Miami needed the endorsement of strangers. How nice of them voters out there to choose lil' ol' 'Bama the best team in the country.

And so the national football championship moves north to the South, back to the storied home of Bear Bryant, Lee Roy Jordan, Snake Stabler and them.
