R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co.'s decision to move its corporate headquarters to 77 W. Wacker Drive is one more coup for the Prime Development Group project that is likely to open next spring with close to 90 percent of its space occupied.
Donnelley, the giant printing firm, will take 215,000 square feet on floors 9 through 19 in the 50-story tower, which was topped out recently. Donnelley will move from its offices at 22nd Street and King Drive on the Near South Side, which are being condemned for the McCormick Place expansion.
One major lease announcement would have provided enough fireworks for the topping out, but Prime added a second by revealing that Kemper Securities Group would take 150,000 square feet on seven floors for its headquarters. Kemper Investors Life Insurance Co. is a joint venture partner in the building.
