Abstract (Document Summary)

Larry Taylor, a Chicago pianist who performed on local television and radio and accompanied such visiting singers as Lena Horne and Tony Bennett, died Sunday in St. Francis Hospital, Evanston. He was 71.

Mr. Taylor got his start in the 1950s, performing and leading an orchestra that played jingles and interlude music on live CBS radio and television broadcasts originating in Chicago. Until the network began to use recorded jingles, the orchestra performed all of the musical scores for every broadcast, said his daughter, Laurie Rossi.
