Abstract (Document Summary)

On the LP list, Jackson's "Bad" was knocked down to No. 2 by Bruce Springsteen's "Tunnel of Love," which finally swept up to the top spot in its third week on the charts. (Also moving up-from No. 4 to No. 3-was the soundtrack from the movie "Dirty Dancing," a sleeper that now is poised to challenge for the top should the two superstar leaders burn out quickly.)

As expected, the new No. 1 pop song in America is Tiffany's remake of "I Think We're Alone Now," which 20 years ago was a No. 4 hit by Tommy James & the Shondells. The other Shondells remake in this week's Top 5, Billy Idol's "Mony Mony," moved up to No. 3, which equals the record's performance in the '60s.
