Abstract (Document Summary)

This week, "Faith" held on to the top spot on the singles' list for the third straight week despite a strong challenge from Houston's "So Emotional," which moved from No. 3 to No. 2 but might not have enough momentum to reach No. 1 when the charts resume after Billboard's one-week holiday break.

When the charts return, look for Houston's major competition to come both from "Faith" and ex-Beatle George Harrison's "Got My Mind Set on You," which moved from No. 5 to No. 4 this week and is in its second week at No. 1 on the adult contemporary charts.

Here are predictions for the first singles' chart of the new year: 1. "So Emotional," 2. "Got My Mind Set on You," 3. "Faith," 4. "Is This Love," 5. "The Way You Make Me Feel," 6. "Don't You Want Me," 7. "Shake Your Love," 8. "Cherry Bomb," 9. "Could've Been," 10. "Catch Me."
