ETA TURNS `WINE' INTO A TASTE OF TRUTH
[CHICAGO SPORTS FINAL, CN Edition]
Chicago Tribune
-
Chicago, Ill.
Although (Ed) Bullins wrote a number of major works in the 1960s and 1970s -- including "Clara's Old Man" and "The Taking of Miss Janie" - - he wrote only two of the plays in that planned cycle. The rarely produced "In New England Winter" surfaced briefly at New York's Henry Street Playhouse in 1970. And the ETA Creative Arts Foundation is currently reviving "In the Wine Time," Bullins' atmospheric but largely plotless 1968 depiction of winos, petty fights and the general hopelessness of a single urban night.
