ROGERS, PARTON TEAM UP IN WARMED-OVER SPECIAL
[SPORTS FINAL, C Edition]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext)
-
Chicago, Ill.
For Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, it's a Christmas to remember. Kenny probably remembers "Lucille," the only good country song he ever had a hand in. Dolly probably remembers the days before she was transformed into a glitzy national one-liner. They'll be double-teaming us Wednesday night on CBS (WBBM --Ch. 2 at 8 p.m.) in "Kenny and Dolly: A Christmas To Remember." For Lee Remick and Angela Lansbury, it's a Christmas to remember the limp melodrama being rebroadcast Tuesday night ("The Gift of Love: A Christmas Story" (Ch. 2 at 8 p.m.). Yes, it's another mawkish spirit-of-the-season "holiday special," not unlike last week's "10th Anniversary Johnny Cash Christmas Show," also on Ch. 2, and "Perry Como's Christmas in Hawaii." It's Christmas in TV Land. This is one of those periods when you don't want to approach your television set without a hot toddy or an air-sickness bag. Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jerry Lee Lewis nipping at your nose. And God bless us, everyone. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
