Chicago, Ill.
The leader of a team of American and French scientists described, in an interview broadcast Monday, how the group found the wreckage of the Titanic, the "unsinkable" luxury liner that hit an iceberg and went down in the North Atlantic 73 years ago. In the interview, exploration leader Dr. Robert Ballard said: "We came on it (the wreckage) early this morning. It was just, Bang, there it was right on top of it. . . . We went smack dab over a gorgeous boiler. I mean just straight out of all the books. . . ." Ballard, of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Woods Hole, Mass., spoke with CTV News in a ship-to-shore interview. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
