FIVE SINGLES LEAP FROM FILM SOUNDTRACKS AND ON TO TOP OF THE CHARTS
[SPORTS FINAL, CN Edition]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext)
-
Chicago, Ill.
This was a big week for songs featured in film soundtracks, with three of America's Top 5 singles currently being heard both on the radio and in movie theaters. The chart champion, for the second week in a row, is Huey Lewis and the News' "The Power of Love" (from the movie "Back to the Future"), which held on to its No. 1 ranking despite a strong challenge from John Parr's title track from "St. Elmo's Fire." Next week, look for "St. Elmo's Fire"--the song, not the movie--to take over the top singles spot from the News. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
