Johnny Carson, three times divorced and socked with hefty settlements, has become engaged to a woman he met on the beach near his Malibu home more than a year and a half ago, a spokesman announced Tuesday.

There was no immediate word on when and where Carson, 61, and Alex Maas, who is in her 20s, will be married.
