CHAPMAN DETHRONES WINWOOD
[SPORTS FINAL, CN Edition]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext)
-
Chicago, Ill.
For most of this summer, veteran rocker Steve Winwood has been dominating the charts with his "Roll With It" single and album, which together have grabbed five different No. 1 titles. Last week, he topped it off by scoring a "double," with simultaneous No. 1s on the pop single and LP lists. On the LP list, "Roll With It" was unceremoniously dumped to No. 3 after just one week as champ. The new leader is Tracy Chapman's "Tracy Chapman," which had been threatening for weeks from the No. 4 spot and this week finally surged into the top spot past two other former No. 1s-Def Leppard's "Hysteria" (now No. 2) and Guns N' Roses' "Appetite for Destruction" (now No. 3).
