GEORGE MICHAEL KEEPS ON SWEEPING THE CHARTS
[SPORTS FINAL, CN Edition]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext)
-
Chicago, Ill.
This week's charts are dominated by Britisher George Michael, who scored a coveted "double" by having America's top pop single ("One More Try") and album ("Faith") at the same time. But that was just part of Michael's incredible sweep. His "One More Try" moved up from No. 3 to No. 1 on the adult contemporary list, held on for a second week as champ of the "hot crossover" chart and made a huge gain- from No. 19 to No. 11-on the black singles' list. Michael scored yet another No. 1 on the prestigious black albums' chart, where "Faith" reigns for the second straight week over the almost-as-hot Terence Trent D'Arby.
