This week, she topped even herself, thanks to the success of her latest single, "Where Do Broken Hearts Go," which zipped into the top spot ahead of Billy Ocean's two-time champ, "Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car" (now No. 3).

That gave Houston her seventh straight chart champ and established her as the only artist in pop history with that many consecutive No. 1 hits. Since January, when her "So Emotional" reached the top, she had been in a tie with the Beatles and the Bee Gees with six straight No. 1 singles.

Elsewhere on the singles' chart, the biggest noise this week was generated by Gloria Estefan & the Miami Sound Machine's "Anything for You," which leaped from No. 15 to No. 8 and suddenly is on track for future No. 1 honors. Last week's hot song, Terence Trent D'Arby's "Wishing Well," moved up one spot to No. 4 but may not have the staying power to hold off the fast- charging Sound Machine.
