Well, she did it. This week, Debbie Gibson, 18, became the youngest female singer ever to have the No. 1 pop single and No. 1 album in the same week. (The youngest of all: Stevie Wonder, who did it as a 12-year-old back in the early '60s.)

Gibson's achievement was made possible by the rapid rise of her new album, "Electric Youth," which this week moved from No. 3 to No. 1 in just its fifth chart week. At the same time, Gibson's "Lost in Your Eyes" single had no trouble holding on for a second week as champ.

But had "Electric Youth" taken just one more week to hit No. 1, Gibson probably wouldn't have had her coveted "double." That's because she is likely to lose her singles' title next week to Mike & the Mechanics' "The Living Years," which jumped from No. 4 to No. 2 this week and is still building in sales. (It's already in its third week at No. 1 on the adult contemporary list.)
