Billy Joel and Phil Collins at the top of three charts
[DU PAGE SPORTS FINAL, SD Edition]

Chicago, Ill.
The chart battle is really heating up between perennial powers Billy Joel and Phil Collins, who this week divided the honors on three top lists. The edge went to Joel on both the pop single and pop album charts, where he scored a prestigious "double" by holding both No. 1 titles in the same week. On the singles side, Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" held off a furious challenge by Collins' "Another Day in Paradise," which moved up to No. 1 in radio airplay ("Fire" was still tops in record sales) but stayed at No. 2 overall. And on the LP list, Joel's "Storm Front" zipped past Milli Vanilli's "Girl You Know It's True" (now No. 2) to give him his first No. 1 album since "Glass Houses" in 1980.
