Athletic Director R.C. Johnson is leaving Eastern Illinois to take over the directorship at Miami (Ohio). Joan Schmidt has been named interim athletic director at EIU, effective Jan 1. Schmidt has been at EIU since 1970 and has been associate athletic director since 1977. University President Stan Rives hopes to have a new athletic director in place no later than July 1.
