More than a decade ago, British rocker Peter Frampton was a major name on the pop music scene, with a long run of sold-out concerts, a phenomenally successful album ("Frampton Comes Alive!") and a series of Top 20 singles, including "Baby, I Love Your Way," which peaked at No. 12 in July of 1976.

At about the same time, a Florida band named Lynyrd Skynyrd was a major force in the emerging "Southern rock" school, thanks to such signature songs as '74's "Sweet Home Alabama" (No. 8) and '75's "Freebird" (No. 19).

But this week, the names of Frampton and the late Van Zant are again at the top of the charts-at least as songwriters-thanks to the new Miami-based group Will to Power, which has just hit No. 1 with an unusual medley-style remake of "Freebird" and "Baby, I Love Your Way."
