'BAD MEDICINE' BOOSTS BON JOVI
[NORTH SPORTS FINAL, CN Edition]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext)
-
Chicago, Ill.
Since then "New Jersey" has lost a lot of momentum and this week slipped another notch to No. 4. But there's a consolation prize for Bon Jovi on the pop singles' chart, where its "Bad Medicine" moved all the way from No. 4 to No. 1, ending the one-week run of The Escape Club's "Wild, Wild West" (now No. 2). That gives Bon Jovi its first No. 1 single since 1986, when the group scored twice with "Livin' on a Prayer" and "You Give Love a Bad Name." And "Bad Medicine" has a good chance to hang on to its title next week, because its closest competitors-Kylie Minogue's "The Loco-Motion" (No. 1 in sales this week, but only No. 3 overall) and U2's "Desire" (up from No. 6 to No. 4)-are far behind in radio airplay.
