Abstract (Document Summary)

It took Motley Crue just four weeks to zip into the No. 1 spot on the LP list with "Dr. Feelgood," which now ranks as one of the year's fastest-rising albums. And to reach the top, the Crue had to break through the trio of "old" records that had dominated the charts recently: Paula Abdul's "Forever Your Girl" (down from No. 1 to No. 2) and New Kids on the Block's "Hangin' Tough" (now No. 5), which were both released in the summer of '88; and Milli Vanilli's "Girl You Know It's True" (No. 4), which has been around for nearly eight months.
