Chicago, Ill.
The Baltimore Orioles, behind Bob Melvin's bat, beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 Wednesday night and reached the halfway point with a 23-game improvement over last season. Baltimore won its third straight game. The Blue Jays scored once in the eighth on an RBI single by George Bell, but Gregg Olson retired pinch-hitter Lloyd Moseby on a flyball with the bases loaded to end the threat. Cal Ripken and Mickey Tettleton singled and Randy Milligan followed with an RBI single. Melvin, who went 3 for 4, hit a two-run double and Craig Worthington hit a ground-rule double. Joe Orsulak singled, but center-fielder Junior Felix threw out Worthington at the plate. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
