New Kids on the Block clip Midler's `Wings'
[NORTH SPORTS FINAL, WC Edition]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext)
-
Chicago, Ill.
This week, there's another new champ: New Kids on the Block, a group of Boston teens whose big ballad "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)" moved up from No. 2 to quickly end the No. 1 run of another ballad, "Wind Beneath My Wings" (now No. 2) by pop veteran Bette Midler. How long can the Kids stay on top? Possibly for another week, although "Loving You" will face a serious challenge from, oddly enough, a former member of New Edition. That's Bobby Brown, whose "Every Little Step" could not move up from No. 3 this week but remains a strong contender. Another threat: Richard Marx's "Satisfied," which zipped from No. 7 to No. 4 in just its eighth chart week. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
