This week, there were few shakeups at the top of the charts, with most of the champs hanging on to their titles: Paula Abdul with the pop single "Forever Your Girl," Madonna with the pop album "Like a Prayer," Fine Young Cannibals with the compact disc "The Raw & the Cooked" and .38 Special on the adult contemporary list with "Second Chance."

Most of the fireworks came on the black singles' chart, where Atlantic Starr's "My First Love" skyrocketed all the way from No. 7 to grab the top spot away from Skyy's "Start of a Romance" (now No. 11). That move also derailed the No. 1 bid of another red-hot song, Natalie Cole's "Miss You Like Crazy," which jumped up to No. 2 this week on both the black and adult contemporary lists.
