Bobby Brown a triple chart threat
[NORTH SPORTS FINAL, CN Edition]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext)
-
Chicago, Ill.
Chalk up a spectacular chart week for former New Edition singer Bobby Brown, who has not one but three singles in this week's Hot 100. First on the list has to be "My Prerogative," which had just enough staying power to move up to No. 1 after spending three straight weeks in the No. 2 spot. (Last week's champ, Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," dropped to No. 3.) That gives Brown his first No. 1 pop single and also another title for "My Prerogative," which was champ of the black charts three months ago. Then there's Brown's first solo single, "Don't Be Cruel," which hit No. 1 on the black chart last summer but took until fall to peak at No. 4 among pop songs. This week, "Cruel" is still hanging in on the pop chart at No. 100, after an incredible six months on the list. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
