Bon Jovi single takes the crown from Madonna
[NORTH SPORTS FINAL, CN Edition]

Chicago, Ill.
Chalk up a great chart week for the East Coast band Bon Jovi, whose big ballad "I'll Be There for You" had just enough staying power to move up to No. 1 on the pop singles' list after two straight weeks at No. 2. However, Madonna is still holding firm on the LP list, where "Like a Prayer" is in its fourth straight week at No. 1. But she will face serious competition next week from Guns N' Roses' "G N' R Lies," which a month ago wasn't even in the Top 10 but now is suddenly back in contention. This week, it moved from No. 3 to No. 2 ahead of Tone Loc's superhot "Loc-ed After Dark" (now No. 3); next week, the victim could be Madonna. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
