Madonna continues her reign
[NORTH SPORTS FINAL, CN Edition]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext)
-
Chicago, Ill.
There's just no stopping Madonna, who for the second straight week is the reigning champ on five charts with her "Like a Prayer" single and album. Most prestigious, of course, are Madonna's No. 1 titles on the pop singles and album lists, where she has a good chance to score a third straight "double" next week. She also held on to the top spot on the compact disc and dance singles charts. And her only slip-from No. 1 to No. 3 on the dance club play list-was countered on the "crossover" chart, where "Prayer" moved up from No. 2 to give Madonna yet another No. 1 ranking. She also is doing well on the international charts, where her "Prayer" LP is No. 1 in Canada and West Germany, and her "Prayer" single is No. 1 in Italy and Australia.
