These 2 coaches don't have any time to grow old Pont finds joy at Division III level

"All you had to do was pick up the phone (as a Division I coach) if you wanted something done," said Pont, grabbing the receiver. "You'd go, `Sports information director, do this. Get maintenance to do this. Call the alumni and get them to do that.' You didn't need anything more than the phone. It's a little different around here." Here is the College of Mt. St. Joseph, where Pont, at the age of 63, is in his second season as head football coach. The school of 3,600 students, located in the gentle rolling hills just outside Cincinnati, is only 100 miles from Ohio State. But it's a lifetime away from the days when Pont used to walk on the Buckeye sidelines. The former Northwestern coach and the only coach to guide Indiana to the Rose Bowl (following the 1967 season) is starting a football program from scratch; Mt. St. Joseph was a women's college until 1986. And he's doing it at college football's lowest level, the equivalent of Division III. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
