Chicago, Ill.
An Ogle County woman who received a new lung in a rare transplant operation two weeks ago died Thursday after her body rejected the organ. Rebecca Ann Gibson, 30, of Creston, received the lung March 14 in a triple transplant operation in which three people received organs from one donor. Gibson received the lung from a Downstate woman who died in a car accident. At the same time in the same hospital, Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, a 33-year-old Spaniard received the donor's other lung, and a 14-year-old boy received the donor's heart.
