RESURRECTION `WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S II' FEELS MORE LIKE A MONTH

Abstract (Document Summary)

Corrupt insurance executive Bernie Lomax kicked off about halfway through the first "Weekend at Bernie's," but because nobody thought to torch him, or even bury him, his corpse is still around to suffer indignities and inflict them on moviegoers.

In the new film, which might also be called "Day of the Living Sight Gag," Bernie (Terry Kiser) is resurrected. More precisely, he is partially rejuvenated via, yes, voodoo, so that when he hears music he turns into the Denny Terrio of the undead, dancing zombielike in the general direction of the $2 million he stole in the first movie.

Following the smell of rotting flesh are insurance company droogs Rich and Larry (Jonathan Silverman and Andrew McCarthy, both back for more), along with two other central-casting bumbling idiots apparently hired by the mob to find the money.
