ISSUES AND ANSWERS TV-JOURNALIST-TURNED-FOUNDATION-PRESIDENT NOW SEEKS TO SOLVE SOCIETY'S PROBLEMS
[DU PAGE SPORTS FINAL, NED Edition]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext)
-
Chicago, Ill.
As a senior producer on some of network TV's highest-rated news shows, Deborah Leff knew how to illuminate society's problems but felt powerless to eliminate them. A former colleague of hers says, "Debbie felt she could bring issues to exposure, but not closure." So those in whom Leff confided were not surprised when, a year ago this month, she chucked TV news and assumed the presidency of the Chicago-based Joyce Foundation. Leff, 41, who was a government civil rights lawyer before becoming a TV journalist, is optimistic she can have an impact on social issues at Joyce. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
