TOWNS SUPPORT ILLINOIS 22 WORK, OPPOSE INTERCHANGE
[LAKE SPORTS FINAL Edition]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext)

Chicago, Ill.
Long Grove and Hawthorn Woods residents may get their wish to see congested Illinois Highway 22 widened, but the improvement could bring an unwelcome addition. The widening is part of a plan that includes an interchange linking Illinois 22 to the controversial Illinois Highway 53 extension, a move many in those towns want to avoid. Under the state's plan, Illinois 22 would be widened for about 3 1/2 miles from Illinois Highway 83 on the east to Quentin Road on the west. It would include an interchange that would carry traffic to and from new superhighway Illinois 53, said Wally Kos of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
