TESTING FOR LEVELS OF PROTEIN MAY HELP DIAGNOSE ALZHEIMER'S
[EVENING UPDATE, C Edition]

Chicago, Ill.
Testing levels of a protein called tau in spinal fluid may help doctors diagnose Alzheimer's disease, researchers say. Although there is now little that can be done for an Alzheimer's patient, accurate diagnosis can help rule out other, more treatable causes of dementia. As scientists develop potential new treatments for Alzheimer's, testing becomes more important. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
