Cornelius's edgy sound manipulation
[North Sports Final , C Edition]

Chicago, Ill.
Japanese musician and sound artist Keigo Oyamada made an appropriate choice when he reportedly selected his pseudonym, "Cornelius,"from among the many character names in "Planet of the Apes." In the original movie, the primate Cornelius was something of an intellectual who also possessed a sensitive streak, and the homo sapien Cornelius employs a similar blend of brains and heart in his post-modern, cut-and-paste electro-pop. On his great new record "Point,"Cornelius drops the stylistic pastiches of previous discs for an engaging fusion of cutting-edge sound manipulation cleverly intertwined with bright, summery, melodic pop hooks.
